oil level rising
« on: 04 November 2009, 20:25 »
Hi all, i think ive got a problem with my 115 pd 2000 model golf. The oil level is rising and i think its the diesel going into the oil via either the fuel pump or possibly a cracked head. Has anyone out there had or heard of this problem ?

I have never heard of this, perhaps someone else has, the only way I think that diesel can get into the oil would be down the bores, if perhaps injectors were spaying when engine stopped, this would wash the oil off the bores, not good. If it was a cracked head or gasket etc, you would get water in the oil which would be white.

Yes you could have a seal failed in the fuel pump, have seen it before.

+1 you make sure you dont check oil level straight after engine has been running, leave it at least 5 mins

If you leave it sit for 5 mins it will be even higher as all the oil drains back to the sump.

+1  I'd have a look at this first too.

What other symptoms do you have?

I read on another forum this happening to someone else and people suggestion it could also be the HG leaking coolant into the sump.

I'll try find the link for you.

They've been discussing it there, it's for the IDI not TDI but increasing oil level is increasing oil level...
