Sorry to hear that mate, it'll be worth the wait! test drove a Roc R when i was at the dealer and i was well impressed and from what i've heard the golf is better! i'm so jealous! :laugh:

A small update. My car arrived at the docks in Oslo a week ago but haven't been shipped to the dealers due to a train accident there so my car will be delayed a few days. I also asked the dealer if I could choose one of the plate numbers and I got a really awesome number which I prefer to keep to myself. Can't wait to get the car now specially with that plate number. Wohoo!

good news at last, car is now at Grimsby and Dealer tells me car will be ready for the 16th April, 7 months after I ordered the car(red manual 5 door GTI).

Cars are normally at the dealer before they get registered.  The previous 2 brand new cars I've bought were at the dealers, and I got to go in and choose the reg no out of a (small) selection.  I then got insurance sorted and gave them a copy of the certificate so they could get it taxed.  A few days later it was ready to drive away.

Apparently with the free VW insurance for 7 days, you don't need to worry about giving them a certificate as they can get tax using the free insurance.

As p3eps stated, they are usually at the dealer when the registration is sorted however as long as the car is in the UK then the dealer can then get them registered. 

I only know this as when I signed for my car finance, my dealer told me my registration number although the car was still at the docks!!

Right, I need help! :)

I got a call from my lease company saying that they have been back and forth with the dealer and basically I can have the 18" Alloys essentially for free (look back at my previous posts in this thread for more info!).... BUT VW said to the lease company that it will push the delivery date back again from the current expected 28th May. The lady from the lease company said that in her experience (and it's her job after all) if VM haven't confirmed to her the build week yet, she doubts I'll get the car on the 28th May anyway. So the decision is, do I stick as I am with a (likely) risk the car will slip a couple more weeks or do I get the 18s and know the car will still by up to four more weeks?

Thoughts? I'm going to call the dealer direct a little later and see if they can offer some more concrete ideas of the timescales. I'm interested to know why upgrading the alloys will push my car back in the queue since it's not started being built yet (and even on their estimates, won't begin for another 4 weeks)?

Wife was at the dealer today to pick up the Vision Alloys. GTI has had it's PDI Inspection. Only to put dealer accessories on then pick up a week on Tuesday. Absolutely brilliant everything on time as dealer said from ordering :smiley:
