Cheers daviescotland, good luck with your order too mate!

I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow just to check if that build week is confirmed or unconfirmed, and to double check that the price hasn't changed.

Does anyone know what the cancelation \ deposit situation is? I recall there's something about if the delay is more than x days then you get 100% back.
Basically I'm going to tell him that I'll accept the months delay, but won't except any further plus what are my options relating to canning the order as can't be arsed at getting messed about again as went through this with our current 3 door GTI. That was starting to be a right pain getting our little one in\out, last year hence bought a new 5 door GTI, but now it's really starting to hack off the wife off as this will be her car when it turns up and she's fed up waiting. I went to look at a new ML as a potential replacement option if the order slips again, or will just by an exdemo GTI if I can get the same \ similar.

I got my deposit back no problem, originally ordered and paid £500 in Aug, In Jan got fed up and just needed to arrange for the money to be paid back to my debit card.  The dealer did say that they were going to keep the order for themselves and just delete a few options.

Hi Guys,

Bit of an update on my order (I added my 31st Dec order to the list above).  Placed order and deposit on 31st December and was advisd mid-March delivery.  I called up today and was told that the order was placed with VW on 8th January and, as yet, a BW has not been assigned.  The guy at the dealership was honest and stated he felt it would be well into April before I receive it.

He claimed there is a shortage with GTi engines at the moment, and this was driving the delay (not sure if true - probably just an excuse)

He did say that the car would be delivered to me 3weeks after he build date -car has to come into the country, vigorous quality checks etc, and then road transported up here.

Thankfully I'm in a position where I am not desperate for the car and am happy to wait, but I'm certainly now being quoted 4 weeks on top of my original delivery date.

Wasnt a lack of engines the original excuse back in September?!  If weve a shortage of Xenon headlamps next then we're getting the excuses coming in circles!
