GGRRRR !

I was told a while back that build week 4 is week commencing 18th (so this week).
Have now found out that build week 4 is w/c 25th. D`oh.
That means that collecting in the 3rd week of Feb aint so likely, I`m off that week.

I've not had an update from dealer since my order (but I expected this as we discussed it was no point calling me until Feb, closer to the expected date (1st March). Ignorance is bliss in this case as not got worked up about build week changes etc lom. However, now it's getting closer to the delivery date (was told could have it in mid Feb if I wanted but have held out for 1st march and new reg), starting to think about calling up to ask how things are.... like an ostridge with it's head sand you could say ;)

Think I'll give them a call later today for a sitrep... place your bets now.... ordered 22nd Oct, was told (but not sure if confirmed or not) BW03......
Upto build week 5 was confirmed last week. So if it did not change it will be confirmed. If I get what your saying right then you have not asked since october. Good luck with it still been BW03 i very much doubt it is though.

Well I spoke to VWCS today and to say the least there is no hope of getting my GTD ordered anytime soon.  Basically they are saying that my VW dealer  has used up all its allocations for the quarter and so cannot order any cars (backed up by them).  My order was placed on October 29th 2009.  I asked what would happen with VAT got the line which basically translates as "Tough".  When will allocations be available basically got "No Idea, when ever the factory decides" the only way to get one is to find a dealer with allocation left or find an existing car in stock (pre reg or used).  How much would that cost me £6K!!! + loss of value on trade in + Cam belt + road tax + servicing + tyres.  What a cop out this is a major car manufacturer what are they doing? Seriously considering cancelling...(wait a minute lets do a mass cancelling scheme and save Vauxhall (joke??)).

My advice if you are going to order a Mk6 Golf ensure they are actually ordering it and not just taking your deposit maybe all these build weeks dealers are quoting are just bull. (p.s. This may only apply to GTD/GTI's not sure)

What I feel sorry for are the dealers as they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do you be honest with your customers and tell them potentially losing the sales? or do you lie and hope that they don't moan too much or cancel.

Still a Mk5 driver (and for a while it sounds).

Man, thats sounds crap.

So, basically, you have no idea when your car is going to be built?

I`d be seeeing if you can get your deposit back and go to a bigger dealer thats got allocation left.
I`d read about someone else having the same issue before I ordered mine and so I asked the specific
question about whether they had allocation left and he went away and confirmed that they did, though he did say that
they could also use allocation from any of their other dealerships.

I got a call this morning from my dealer just to sort out the free loan car for monday.
Obviously got talking about the delivery of the GTD and me reckons VW will push to get as many cars through as possible so they can report healthy first quarter sales/market share.

I hoping to get the car before the end of March.

If I were in your postion ajmoir I would be asking my dealer to find me a GTD in the dealer network that closest fits your spec (you could even point them in the right direction by using the used car section on the offical VW website)
and get them to work a deal out for you. Ie they negoiate a deal with the other VW dealer and they honor the trade in arrangments etc, etc, it worth a shot.

My dealer was saying that they have two GTI orders sitting on their books and they cant order them until April with an expected delivery August, Probably applies for the GTD too.

Whatever you decide, good luck
GTD White 5dr, ACC, Sunroof, winter pack, in transit.......

Wow I would have nearly waiting a year by then that is ridiculous!

The only problem with trying to get a spec close to my spec is that there are no GTD's in Red 5 door manuals anywhere (I hated the DSG I drove).  Also mine is ordered as a family discount so it would cost signifcantly more.

The longer I wait the more my used car devalues and the more I have to spend on it Cam belt, servicing e.t.c.

Is life just tryng to tell me don't buy a new car???
