335i 2009 onwards 4 door m Sport in the met blue (nice car, a little more descrete than the M3, came down to one of them or the GTI (as needed 4 door for the little one). Amazing discounts on offer, noticed you can get a brand new 325i (the uprated 3.0 engine with 0-60 in 6.1) for about £25k, that's not far off the same price as a GTI 5 door and has cruse etc as standard.
Wonder if there's a new 3 series out next year?

so how come you went for a GTI?

Got to be the RS4 (even if 2nd hand) if you're looking for a good car @ the same price of the R

I've just come out of an 07 plate RS4 avant which i've had for the last 2 yrs. A fantastic car in every way BUT the running costs are immense so even though you are correct the RS4 (2-3yrs old) is the same price as the Golf R the golf will be much cheaper to run/ maintain ......

My thinking is if you can buy it cash, you can afford the running costs. If you have to use finance then you can't afford to run it without a struggle, Finance + running costs = silly money that could go elsewhere.

The 335i's are around £25k, they get cheaper as you drop engine sizes.

lol - you don't say!  that's like saying that a GTI is nice but pricey, so drop down to a 1.6 or a 1.4 and it'll be cheaper!

How is it? The specs as high in the lower engines as the higher engine models, some more so! The link with the 325i has a much better spec, nicer paint finish, wheels and exact body kit.

You cant spec a 1.6 golf to anywhere near the R model (leather recaros, wheels, body kit etc etc)

lol ok Jules.  but a car with a smaller engine being cheaper than a car with a bigger engine is hardly rocket science.  so you can spec a 320i to be similar to a 325i to a 330i and a 335i.  in many ways that is the downfall of the highly specced BMs and also the benefit for lower models.  they all looks very similar.  i was tempted to get a 320d E92 M Sport once, looked the dogs danglies but would be pretty slow.

The more I see other cars interiors, the more the GTI's is actually stunning. The rest I've seen really are poor in comparison.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.
