"Cruise is much cheaper as a dealer retrofit - worth asking about"

Interesting! I didn't know you could get it retrofitted by the dealer at a later stage! Is that true (it's only 200 pound as a factory option so how much is a dealer charge?)

Most dealers do it for the price of the stalk (£50ish I think) and an hours labour for fitting / VagCom coding it.  £120 - 150 depending where you go!

So, what's the consensus on black with black wheels? Over the top? Max power? Probably not the image an "old" man like me wants to project!

I'm not a fan of black wheels in general, but I think they look most acceptable on white, red or silver cars. I don't think they say 'Max Power' though.

Agree most R's will be Rising blue.

dynaudio?

Good call, but not really an audiophile. Mainly listen to Radio 4!

Hardly had stereo on in Mk5 R32, but maybe need decent audio in Mk6 R to cover up dull 4-pot exhaust note.

LOL just get whatever you think looks cool - variety is the spice of life

I'm always the same when buying something. I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

I'm much the same I've been irritating my wife for weeks choosing the colour for the R
.... Then I just chose the colour I saw in all the adverts/magazines.

personally i'm not a fan of black wheels in general.  i agree silver would work better with the blue.

how about phone prep?  either the VW one if you're a nokia fan or the fiscon if you're not

well I never, thought it was something that could only be fitted during production like the rear view camera.
If it's just a different stalk then VW are seriously ripping people off not including it on the GTI, more so for the £29k Golf R (but hey I guess it increases their margin).

What else can you get retrofitted? Bluetooth or sat nav?

I will be retrofitting both of these myself when the car comes.  Sat Nav is a £1600 factory option, but you can get immaculate ones on ebay for under £600, and they take 20 mins to fit.  A dealer would charge you about £2000 to retrofit one.  Bluetooth is £390 factory option, but I'll be fitting the Fiscon Plus kit which I can buy for £300 - and will take about an hour to wire in the Mic and will fit the same time as the Sat Nav (plug and play).  No much of a saving on that one - but the Fiscon kit is better.

My dealer has already agreed to VagCom the car to tell it that it has both fitted when I get it - so I won't have any problems.

Right. Think I've decided. Sticking with the blue body and black wheels... the GT3 RS look.

Though that's green instead of blue.

Nice. I spec'd up a Rising Blue with  19" black alloys - thought it looked mint. Nice on white paint, too.

Camera and Leather I wouldn't bother with, but ETTO :afro:

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?
