Just back from London, took me nearly 8 hours but back in one piece, car never missed a beat AND pulls like a train. However few things i missed before i bought it...
1. Needs Accumulator? - Needs a little push on loud pedal when starting... big job?
2. Drivers seat doesnt lock in position - When accelerating or braking, seat slides back and forward on rails (dangerous)
3. Had to drive with full beam on as lights hardly even light up road 3ft in front
4. Fogs dont work
5. Exhaust rattles VERY loudly on underside of car when idle
6. How hard is it to fit rear bench including seat belts?
7. Power steering doesnt work, harder to turn than a car that isnt meant to have pas. Like as in *tank* hard.
ANY assistance willl be greatly appreciated guys.
1. Accumalator??
2. May be a bent or worn mechanism. You need to get in there and have a look. Its a very simple system and not difficult to work out.
3. Nature of the beast I'm afraid. The wiring looms are very long and old and deteriorate with age. There are upgrade looms available which are a bunch of relays connected up with instructions on how to install them. Very easy installtion that gives you the full 13.2 volts at the lights rather than the 9.something that will be there now. I have also fitted 100 watt bulbs in mine to give it all the help it needs, but these are illegal, and for 'off road use' only.
4. Check out to see if they are connected, then look at the bulbs, then the relay. It could also be the switch.
5. Broken bungee rubber? Get under and have a look.
6. Easy to fit seats. Two screws and they are out. The seatbelts too. The mounting points for the inertia reels are under the rear side plastic speaker mounts. The inertia reels are handed so make sure you put them in the correct sides or they will not work.
7. Check your power steering belt and fluid level before condeming the system as this is a fairly big job to swap out.
