Reversing Lights.
« on: 31 October 2009, 17:02 »
Dealer give us a call today to come and look at the new car. (Due to pick it up on Monday.)

One question though, when he reversed it out of the bay, where it is going through its PDI, I noticed only one reversing light illuminated. Asked the dealer and he said there only was one. Is this correct?

Ive never looked but i would expect so. Its normal practice for VW to have one on one side as the reversing light and the one on the other side as the rear foglight.

I don't know. What's the world coming to when a car costing 25k+ only has one fog/reverse light!?

Yeah exactly. Does this mean we will get folk coming up to us saying. "Excuse me mate you only have one reversing light working, and you have left your side lights on."

The one foglight i think makes sence. It meens the brake lights can still be easily seen. Not that you should have the foglights on when a cars right behind you anyway as you simply blind them but most drivers seem to do this as they are too lazy to switch them off when someone comes up behind them in the fog.

Mk5 only have one of each too. You can see the red reflector in the other light.

+1

Don't know if its the way drivers are taught these days, but I was always told to switch them off as soon as it was safe to do so.
