Im looking for one aswell only got £1500 at the very most to spend though  :undecided:

Id prefer a 3door but i know i wont get one for that price, might end up buying a cat d or c then do the work myself as i do body repair at college.

Obviosily id get it remap eventully as i had a 306 gti before and that was quick, much much faster then a standard 1.8 tubby

yes, i have a 2.0gti its like a bus, but is very reliable, but insurance on 1.8t can be expensive, also petrol price has to be considered nowadays, 1.31.9 per litre its just cost me

you may have a point there, as when i go over about 4000rpm there is a very strange burning smell (similar to a metally burn smell) that definetly isnt coming from the engine bay

The thing is dude its a false sense of economy ...

For £1500 i'm in very much doubt the car will have good history.Wheres you can get half decent AGU's for £2500 from the likes of someone on here who's probs had clutch/suspension/bushs/cambelts replaced in there ownership plus you might even find a nice modded one for that.

If you buy a bit of a run down one for £1500 you can EASILY spend £1000 just getting it up to half decent driving/running condition
I'm in the process of pricing up what my car needs at the moment as its been sitting for almost 6 years so it basically needs everything, And i'm getting totals on paper of over £2000  ...And that's if I don't go K03s route LOL....
But don't get me wrong its fully serviced and mot'ed drives fine...but I want it to drive/look great,And if you just 30% petrol head u'll end up spending loads cos you'll never be happy

From my own experiance it's best to spend more in the first place. But you never know you could find a well cared for, well maintained car for £1500 but it's higthly unlikley
