Okay, thanks again for your replies. I only really use my car at the weekend and I went out in my lovely clean MK3 16V GTI today and loved it! I think I'm going to save my money for a bit longer and maybe revisit this again in the summer!

Turbo is best hence why most of the manufacturers nowadays are making their new performance cars with turbo's!!!

It's not the best, it's a cheapshot at making a car go quicker.

Okay, I was here last night asking about the standard 1.8 GTI and I think we all know that I shouldn't bother with that one.

Why not? It's a good car.

good car, but not great, that engine needs a turbo!!!

I see, so it's the old 'turbo is the best' horse being flogged again.

you dont agree

I don't agree that it's not a great car. For just a matter of accelerating quicker from a lagging turbo I'm not going to enter the turbo is the be all and end all of cars, because it's not.

i agree about turbos not being the only answer, but can hardly call the 1.8t laggy, its quite responsive

Have a go with a car that has the 1.8t power but without the turbo, you'll soon learn what lag means.
