That's what I thought  -  I felt that the cloth seat 'wrapped' round my back more than the leather  -  thing is, spending a lot of money on a Golf so I don't want to be tight for the 'final' £1,700  -  that said, I'm so lazy when it comes to cleaning and vacuuming the car, does that mean forget the leather -   if I've got to constantly 'treat' the leather and condition it, that's not me  -  and the kids  -  wont school bags and kit etc increase the risk of rips and tears? I think one has to look at options like this: 1. are they a 'must' (eg leather in a BMW 135i coupe)?
2. do you personally want them (eg parking sensors)?  -  leather is not number 1 and, personally, not no. 2  -  if one ignores 1 and 2, there's a big risk of over-spec'ing and losing money (like spending £30K on the thing).

I guess I know where I stand on leather now....

PS ACC  -  any point  -  I'm not a 'thrill' driver'  -  same roads all the time....to kids' schools and work...normal road surfaces, suburbs  -  never country roads/lanes  -  suburb residential roads and motorways, sometimes  -  most Gti drivers would call me a boring driver.

Thanks, everyone, for all of your views.

thanks - you're so right - I'm keeping the options to a min - might even stick to RCD 310 - having cloth and manual - yes, parking sensors, couple of other bits and pieces, yes to rear seat belt warning and rear side airbags, I'll probably have the carbon grey though I quite like the blue graphite, obviously  the 18" Monzas - if I do go for the RCD 510, it'll cost £700 because I'd end up going for the Dynaudio...going to order soon as I want it on 1 March...
