Should I get a 1.8 GTI?

I've currently got a MK3 16V GTI but am thinking about getting a MK4 1.8 GTI that I've seen advertised. Obviously I will need to give it a test drive first to see what it's like as I've never driven one but a few things:

1. Will I notice any difference in speed or pull between the MK3 and MK4? I'm thinking probably yes as the torque on the MK3 is 200 and the MK4 125
2. Does this sound like a good price: Trade, 98,000 VGC, 1 previous owner, FSH, 12 Months MOT, 8 Months TAX, 6 Months Mechanical Breakdown £2395

Any other thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry, yes my MK3 is a 98 R Reg and the one I'm looking at is a 99 or 00 T Reg.

No it's just the standard 1.8 and not the 1.8T

Yeah as said stick with the 16v or get a 1.8T / GTTDI 130/150 PD IMO

Yep, probably best to save my pennies and get a 1.8T at some point.

youll only regret it in a couple of months otherwise!

Indeed all the other engines wont feel like a GTI because the MK4 is so heavy  

Could always get a 2.0 8V  "GTI" 115 bhp...................
