Slaving something in means temporarily fitting or connecting something that will be easily removed later, without actually installing it properly. You would do this if the component does not fit properly or is for testing purposes only.

Some people refer to slaving a battery as installing a second one.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Hi guys,

After a last minute trip away I got back to this issue.

After switching on electrics I noticed dash lights were very dim, and, as predicted, once key turned with headlights on they pretty much went out.

Luckily there is enough juice to arm/disarm the alarm (not that there is anything in it worth stealing an they cannot drive it away) so now just need to get a friend to jump the car and drive until it recharges or perhaps it's simply time for a new batt.

Oh and it this should help anyone else reading, I heard a clicking sound coming from the fuse box area with the ignition on.

Thanks

it could be the coil pack,
take the the main coil lead out of the distributor and put against the head or somethink, then turn it over and see if it sparks.
may be that, have you checked the cambelt ? you never know. lol
:D

Bought a recharger in the end and after charging it fired first turn :)

Although saying that for a while now I have had problems with the central locking seeming to not have enough power to operate it, and charging the batt has solved that even though the locking was a problem when the car was starting.

Odd.

Thanks all for the advice, I am on the road again.

Its ok recharging the battery but why did it go flat in the first place? Mabye it aint charging or the battery is too fooked to hold a charge for long. Time will tell. Hope all is well but expect you will be back here.

Agree'd.

Sounds to me like a naff battery.

If you come to this conclusion, don't buy one from Halfrauds.

Got to a motor factors.
