Oil - Confusion!?!?

Back in April, I had a 30,000 service done. The car was on the T & D regime and I asked for it too remain that way, with them using Long Life Oil at the service.

Anyway, when I pick the car up and get home, the lovely dealer has used SYN1000+, not the LL oil  asked for. Anyway, 2500k miles later i need a top up, so have been back to the dealer and asked what to use. The confusion starts here...

1. The service receptionist said it will be fine to top up with Long Life oil ( I already have a 1 litre VW pack)

2. The parts guy said whatever you do, dont mix the oil so handed over a tub of 10w 40.

So I am now confused, what should I use as a top up ? Next time I will ensure they use the correct oil !!

Hi, the parts guy is talking rubbish! No reason why you can't top up with the L/life oil

I would be more worried about the 10w40 oil he is trying to sell you!

Is this a GTI?

If so, I'd ask for the LL oil to be re-instated as you asked for in the first place.

I wouldn't mix oil unless I was absolutely desperate, and even then I'd have to flush it out and refill with LL oil once I could.

Yes, its a 2007 07.

I was hoping to get it round to the service again in January rather than have a flush and the LL oil put back in, as Ive only done 2.5k since the last service.
