I hope this hasn't been discussed on other threads but a little while back, I'd heard that [at least Durham] traffic plod were given some sort of device to measure any opacity of dubious tints at the roadside. Maybe the payback on their speedcams wasn't that great at the time ..

Dont put tints on the front. martininwillerby's old car although looks good, but if that is front tint on his, thats illegal.

So is speeding mate, common sense approach, don't go 'gangsta black' but you can compliment the rears without getting into too much trouble.  If you get stopped you can always peel it off at the roadside.

Some dont mind being Fined for your approach. But giving the rozza's £60 for a penalty, id rather shove it in the fuel tank for 300miles of driving pleasure.
etto and all that.

Saw some blond bint in a range rover get stopped in Beverley last week, she had to stand there and peel of some of the really dark tint on the front windows before she was allowed to go on her way. The idea was that when she got home she would peel off the rest cos it looked a right mess.

Think is she had refused to remove the tints she would have got an on the spot fine.

Phil if you have a 'sensible' level of tint you are very unlikely to get stopped and fined. If you go blackout or something daft then you are asking for trouble.  I have had my Scirocco and my Vito tinted and never had any trouble...

Same topic on off topic chat running currently

as thread does touch on safety and visability with frontal tints aswell.
