Because I love my mk5 and sure a GTI conversion would be a lot of work but it would be fun and a good experience. Like the built not bought section in PVW
Not low enough mk5

The chavvy MkIV blokes could have been waving to say they liked the look of your car

there are those in the US who have put golf bumpers on a GTi. trying to turn it into a sleeper. Alot of effort for zero benefit.

I think The TDI badge on the back would be a better idea as GTTDI's have the same look from the back as the GTi's

The Golf bumpers on a GTI in the Us doesn't really work cause they don't even sell the smaller engined ones there, do they? There's the 2.5 V5 Rabbit, GT, GTI and R32. The normal TDI might be over there but I don't really know. In the US all Golf bumpers mean is that you're pushing 170 bhp instead of 200, so not that sleepery really  :undecided:

Saturday night's challenger was a 1242cc MK2a Punto...

I was like

He was like
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?
