Golf mk3 with non functional electric windows
« on: 22 October 2009, 17:30 »
Hello all.

Recently bought a 2.0 8v as a winter daily, Its a good car but there's one issue!

The electric windows are playing silly buggers!

Drivers side. Works fine but the "one press" up stops half way and goes back down. so you have to click the switch like your playing intentional track and field  in till it goes up.

Passenger side front. Was working. now isn't ! Ill let that issue develop ive got a feeling it will fix itself.

Passenger side rear : works o.k on front switches but the rear door switch lets it go down but then not up. ( rear switch ?)

Drivers side rear. **** all Just a relay click. Prolly a new motor then.

Im guessing theres a real mix of broken door wires, Relay issues or fubared motors in that heady mix!

Where to start? Are there any known issues? relays, motors or switches? wheres a good place to buy spares? how much of a b!tch is a window motor change ?

Any advice appreciated

Deacs :)

Reading about them makes me think are they really the Teutonic German cars of dependability!?

There seems to be a few issues, I bought one as a cheap run around while I do work on my two other cars! whoops!

Oh and the window regulator. what a ball ache!
