Vortex and SWG Consoles
« on: 21 October 2009, 15:40 »
Hello peeps,

got my hands on some vdo gauges out of an audi coupe..
Was thinking of my options with these, seen those blanking plates that go in place of the stereo etc on awesomegti
but want to keep my stereo etc!

Anyone got a spare vortex console lying around??

Or realistically, has anyone ever installed the SWG replicas?
Tempted to grab one of these!

Thanks,
G

Got my Votex for free. But no panels for it. Want the gauge and Electric window switch buggers for it

The plastic on the SWG verisons is quite poor plus you need to alter the exisitng console to make it fit.

FYI. If your thinking of relocating your sterio to the centre console then you can only fit it on the bottom part of the votex which is too low and right next to the gearstick
:)

Have you got the plate that goes with them? It can be chopped up to fit where your ashtray goes, personally i like the fact that they are angled towards the driver with the audi plates

Ive got my stereo in the bottom part of the votex console and its fine
prefer it down there as its out the way and the gauges are in a better position

the swg ones are tacky as hell, one came in my golf and was quickly thrown away.

putting the stereo where the ash tray is and gauges where the stereo was is always a winner!

Cheers everyone,

Yup got the original plate, so guess will try "making" that fit
Is the stereo fit in the ashtray on a standard center console a pain?
Also where would you relocate the ciggie lighter to?

Thanks,
G

not particularly, chopy with dremel till it fits. how often do you use the ciggy lighter? on my mk2 i have my vdos in the ashtray hole, the ciggy lighter is just stuffed behind the console. if i need it i can just drag it out :)
