The wheel that turns the tightest, ie, if you are turning left, the left wheel will turn the tightest, is most likely to click if the CV joint has gone. So if there is a clicking noise in one direction and not the other, usually, you would go for the wheel that corresponds to the direction of the turn.
Bearings will just rumble which ever way you turn, even more so under heavy braking.
