My car is also an 08 (August) with just under 12k on the clock.

However, I dont get the bang etc.

What happens is when I have the footbrake applied, I then let go of the brake and put my foot on the accelerator. If I tickle the throttle, just to move off slowly, I sometimes get a very slight kangaroo hope before it moves off smoothly. Nothing major, just quite slight.
It doesnt bother me too much which is why I havent done anything about it yet.

If I put my foot down normally after applying the footbrake - not tickling the throttle, just normal, slight heavy foot, driving, the car is as smooth as anything throughout. No hopping etc at all.

Maybe my car just wants to be driven, and not 'tickled'! lol
However, no bangs or unusual noises etc at all.

LOL  ... well they were well aware of the problem at my dealer.

Print off the American press release in the link above and take it with you

I'll PM you the letter I wrote too, if you want to put it in writing to the service manager.
Thanks for this. I took the car in today, they phoned a couple of hours later to confirm it's the mechatronic unit, they reckon 6 weeks (has to be built to order - why can't they just take one off the production line  :undecided:. Got a MkVI as a courtesy car. Very nice, but o nly1.4 engine
