Not really, it went in fine and didn't even rub with it in the back despite being lowered. Job jobbed!

Well here we are 2 week off of a full 12 months of ownership and 14K miles under it's belt.

All things were going fine but the recent wet weather has highlighted an issue. The blowers are shagged.

With it set to fresh air it has all the blowing power of ant with asthma and won't even demist the bottom section of the screen.

On recirc it blows like a dutch hooker which is great, except n recirc it keps the moist air going round so still arse for actually clearing the screen. This means in the rain I have to drive with all the windows open and all my stuff gets wet. Not good.

Does anyone know if these things have a pollen filter? I'm wondering if that's clogged and that's why it works fine on recirc but when it tried to draw air from outside it can't. You can hear the fan going all out but it sounds like it's got a nasty blockage.

I suppose I better endure the children on Club Polo and see if anyone on there has the answer.

Well I braved Club Polo and indeed it seems I'm probably suffering a blocked pollen filter. That'll be a job for sunday between BTCC races then!

hmmmm My blowers also got a lot worse throughout the summer having the aircon on all the time... I'll order a pollen filter now! It probably needs doing anyway, I have no idea when it was last done.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Today is me and the Polo's one year anniversary. Awwwww.

So I thought I better update this thread and it's not a great update. I've done 14.5K in these last 12 months and things are starting to go wrong and wear out.

MPG has dropped to 45mpg
The front brakes are shot
The passenger front electric window has died

I've picked up some new discs and pads which I'm hoping to do today. I suspect the MPG is because it's due a service so after payday it'll be getting oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter changes and see if that helps, if not then I need to get it hooked up to Vagcom to see what that says. The window I suspect is the motor but that can wait for a while.

All that said it's still been the cheapest 12 months of motoring I've ever had. On top of it being economical and cheap to insure I've only had to replace a couple of bulbs, service items and the 4 tyres (due to the alloys I bought not having much left on them).

With it looking like I may be getting a new job with a slightly longer commute and a paycut this little bruiser looks like it's going to be staying in the Horney fleet for some time to come.

5MPG more than the 1900kg Passat.  I'll bet you're not nearly as nice to the Polo as we are to the Passat though.

£10 says it's probably the wiring in the door shut - same happened on the driver's door - hoik off the bellows and inspect it.

Told you it was right for you. :smug:

Still need a drive of it now the cambelt isn't a tooth out.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Re: the window, I'm pretty sure it's the motor as you can hear it clunking but not working when you hit the switch on either door. I'll be checking all the wiring anyway though.

Done the brakes, still don't feel great though. Think it needs new fluid but I'll get my local garage to do that as I hate bleeding brakes. Also noticed one of the rear pads is down to the metal so gonna change those with the service in a couple of weeks.

Popped over to mark's today to change my rear pads and a few other bits so I could use his pressure bleeder. Turned out my rear discs and pads were properly ruined, like really really ruined. Picked up some new discs and job jobbed.

New air filter - I curse the man who designed that. You need to remove the front splitter to change it!
New Fuel Filter
New rear pads
New rear discs

Car feels a little more lively and now stops without making any sickening grinding noises. Also the peddle feels better having had fresh fluid bled through it.

Cheers Mark, you're a legend!

Just needs an oil filter change int he next couple of weeks to complete the service items.

This mornings run to work showed the brakes to be now back to awesome status. Managed a couple of late braking dives down the inside of roundabouts and confidence in the middle peddle has been restored.

Smashing.
