Oxygen sensor?

Hi,

Still got my problem of erratic idling/running etc., well I did, I've done tons of reading about it etc., cleaned the ISV, replaced the Air Flow meter, new plugs, leads etc. but no difference.

Anyway, read Kens Digifant website or whatever, and it explained about the emmision controller having an Oxygen sensor, after the car had driven like a bag of s**t for a few miles, I pulled over, (before it made the decision for me), got my Haynes manual out, couldn't find anything about the Oxygen sensor, but found a plug that is a temperature sensor switch in a water hose, seems to be something to do with the CO2 mixture? Unplugged it, now my temp gauge, MFA, cooling fan still work I assume they run from the other switch that's there's in front of the one I took off, and now the car doesn't idle erratically, drives through traffic fine etc., runs a bit sluggishly from cold though.

My conclusion is the Oxygen sensor is knackered, but does anyone know where it is?

If your car is a UK spec one, it wont have a O2 sensor. The sensor you unplugged is poss the eng temp switch for the ECU. It will default to preset limmits when the ECU has no signal from the sensor (around 80 degrees c) The idle problem could be a vacuum leak or the throttle switches on the throttle body. One switch is for idle, one for full throttle and both switches open for mid. Hope this helps, Steve.

So that's why I can't find it.

I think you're spot on with the temp sensor, it doesn't run nicely till it's over 80c.

Guess I'll be taking all my hoses off at the weekend then!

At least I feel like I'm getting somewhere with it now.
