The addon circuit fuse holder can normally be bought at car accessory shops.

I have been looking for one of these for ages - where did you get it?

Sorry not a direct answer but I used tomtom on a navman on Saturday and the unit fitted perfectly in the space with the ashtray and all the wires tucked in behind it. I'm not sure what size your TomTom is but having it down there beats all those trailing wires.

Sorry about my last reply. It was not really to do with this thread.

That photo i have shown is the addon unit piggybacked onto the 15 amp fuse. You can use it in any of the unused slots next to that 15amp one as they are all switched live power. This is on the mk5 fusebox but i don;t expect the mk6 to be any different.

Thanks for your posting. I just hope I'll be able to find that fuse adaptor somewhere here. Another issue is the location of the TMC antenna for the GPS unit. Has anyone tried to fix this antenna in side the dash? BTW, is it easy to pull the power cable from the fusebox to the centre vent? I will post pictures and compile a DIY once my project starts. Just need to pick up my car from the dealer first :)

I discovered that trick, too, the other week and thought I had stumbled across the perfect location for a TomTom. Unfortunately, however, I then found that I was only picking up 1 or 2 satellites (sometimes none)

I found if you start with it on your dash until it picks up the sats, it then holds onto them no problem in the ashtray compartment

i like having the sat nav on top of the dashboard, nice and high in the corner by the drivers side A piller so its pretty much in my line of sight.  i don't know why people bung it in the middle of the windscreen though, that is dangerous surely?

Depends on your driving position / type of car. If its not above your bonnet line then its not a problem there.
