G0ldf1sh's Car - a couple of pics
« on: 25 September 2004, 21:31 »
What can I say... you all saw the pics the other day that he posted. seeing as he only lives down the road and I'm now living in south Wales it was time to have a look for myself.

OMG! those wheels don't look anything like that do in those pics! you could have 2 hamsters running side-by-side in the dish! truely awesome! Vix will tell you this that I'm not a big fan of deep dish wheels and you only have to look at my Kahns to see it again lol, but after seeing Gav's wheels I've been converted. Truely stunning. Although I think the 16x9 is a bit excessive and the tyres do look a bit weird it's certainly changed my opinion.

After a quick blast round Cardiff in mine (I couldn't stop him jumping in saying lets go) we jumped in his. The ride isn't as bad as I was expecting. it's nice and not too harsh. His sound system is just as good as those wheels! with no back seat all the bass hits you hard and it's hard to imagen it's only a single 10" creating it all. I guess this is one system that's hit the nail on the head. the Genesis amp powers that lot effortlessly (as expected really).

Anyways, here's a couple of the better pics I took. Should of took some before it got dark really.? ::)

Now he'll probably tell you this. I did almost write off my golf after we parted. I'm still not use to having all these traffic lights to think about having lived pretty much in the countryside before moving here so I mistakenly ran a red? :-[ luckily I got away with it though.? ;D

Wow Diz,

Those pics look cool.  Yeah I agree would have been nicer if we'd taken pics before darkness fell.  Both cars though not just mine!  It was really nice to meet you and i hope this is the start of a good friendship.  By the way can I just tell you once more that I LOVE your CAR.  It seemed very strange being in a powerful MKII as i'm used to scooby's and Evo's being that quick.  Blinding fast car.  All you need now is the arch fitted on the rear or G60's all round, some wheel spacers or dare I say it DEEP DISH WHEELS!  Hehe.

Loved the colour of the car.  Looks different in reality to that of the pics on here.  What a car, almost had no words to say, well, other than F*** this is fast over and over lol!!

We'll go out on the pi$h soon or something mate, could even go to a cruise or two and show them MKII's can still be the Sh1t!

LOL @ the near miss at the traffic lights.  I know it was serious and I shouldn't laugh but man that was cloooooooooose!!

 ;D

I went back past that light the following day. there's defiently a traffic cam there so I'm certain I'll get a fine and 3pts this time. Haven't decided if I'll destroy it and claim it was never delived yet  ;)

I've got 2 jobs now so I'll be ordering up the G60 arches and sending them off to the bodyshop for colourcoding soon. :)

Been quoted ?170 to refurb all 4 wheels. Will do that soon too. Fixed my horn today so that works again lol.

cya soon.

LOL i took my horn off in the ever going quest for waight reduction  :P

The pics look sweet!, I love the first one with the moving lights on the left. Just a question for ya diz, How much are you paying to have them Smoothed? Im paying ?150 for my arches, But that includes having them cut down to fit around my M3 side skirts, Fitting them and sealing the arches shut. Make sure the bodyshop lets you see the arches before they prime them tho, Because if there not smoothed properly they will crack, Also make sure they use plastic primer, Its gives the paint a better bond to the fabric of the plastic and will stop it from cracking and chipping away ;) Sorry if you already knew this, But we dont want that beast of a car of yours to have second rate arches!  ;)

I don't know how much yet. I'll get them and swap to little bumpers and see what they say to do the arches and bumpers

Diz,

I'm sure there's not a camera there mate, but if you saw it then i'm mistaken.  Just rip the thing up if it arrives.  Did I see "little bumpers" somewhere in your post??  Don't do it mate, I do love little bumpers but I think your car looks stunning as it is.  As you said, refurb wheels (I know an excellent place BTW), get arches painted/fitted + a good waxing will do the car wonders.

Cheers M777CUSGTI/Slammed MK2!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I went through a stage of loving BBS splits.  Saw a MKII on VWVortex Biography section and wanted them ever since.  I bought a set and fitted them, then realised that I missed the Uber wide German look so fitted the Brocks back on.  Although the BBS rims looked very trick, being polished and all they just dont have the same effect as the 9J's.  I thought about keeping them for winter wheels but then realised that they are just sods to keep clean and they'd end up wrecked after the first winter lol.

I'm on a mission now to save some readies, thinking how to make some fast ones so I can order my FK's.  It still scrubs a little on the rear even with arch mods.  The metal isn't touching now, just the plastic arch on the front and back, not the top.  Strange but it does.

Anyone know where to get FK's at a good price??  Group buys?  Discounted bits??

We'll have to meet up again when we've got more time Diz, you can come down and use my drive and hose to wash and wax the car as you don't have one!!!!  ;)
