are the engine mounts in the mk2's the same throughout the line up? i.e 1.6 driver has same mounts as gti 8v?

physically yeah all same design. early ones had a different front mount arangment.

a few diufferent types of mount available thru the years, best to go for 1.3 bonded rubber front and box mounts if looking to replace.  The rear engine mount is different on 16v/G60, but it will still work on the base models. this one is recommended if you go big power.
