Retrofit rear parking sensors...?
« on: 14 October 2009, 13:54 »
Anyone know if you can retrofit rear parking sensors to a mkv GTI...?

And more importantly...how much would this cost me...?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Billy

You can get an official VW dealer fit option at £350 including fitting - though you should be able to barter them down on price by quite a bit.  You might want to go in 'pre-armed' with similar quotes from other sources too.

I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades. Especially if your teammates are bad guessers.

The only issue with dealer fit ones is that the sensors sit proud of the bumper whereas factory fitted ones are flush with the bumper. But it is not difficult to retrofit.

Agree, a friend of mine had them fitted for £250 by doing this.

Stick some either side of the number plate in the recess. They will work just as well. Pass wire through  or around behind the plate and into the boot area wiring to a reverse light. Total time to do job about 1hour and cost £30 as a diy job
