Tempted to get either a Rallye or a G60 anyone got any pointers or pros/cons to ownership of these awsome pieces of VW heritage?

taken from raddo g60 ownership -

best VAG noise in unsilenced form

Great power delivery in mild tune form (mine was chip / cam / 68mm pulley / ss zorst retaining cat / bigger FMIC) - i prefer the power delivery of the g60 to my 270bhpish s2.

parts are for the most part reasonably priced and wideley avaliable new and second hand

fuel economy isnt great, but isnt the worst (mid to low 20's, 30ish on a run)

charger rebuilds arent cheap, starting at £350 for a standard one. These arent needed as often as people think, every 30k or so.

Mine was very reliable, apart from crappy starter earthing. the only time it left me stranded was when the plastic thermostat housing broke.

standard intercooler (on the rado) sucks balls.

gear ratios also suck balls

theyre cool as flip.

if anyone reading this has a rallye needing a lil tlc, i would swap you my s2!
S4 Avant. Eibach springs. 18" Avus. RS4 Intercoolers. Viper Tuned. Goes Fast.

Not too worried about fuel consumption, i'm selling a scoobie which if i do get a G60/rallye will be funding it, the raddo G60 was what first got methinking about it so it will probabley be either a raddo/golf G60 or a rallye, i would love the rallye but its finding the right one.

I have to put mine on the UK register and sort out the running. Then I think I will have to say good bye to it. So watch this space just after Christmas.
The spec is as follows.

Just under 90,000 miles.
Schrick 268/276 split duration camshaft.
New tappets.
Stage 2 charger rebuilt 5000 miles ago.
68mm pulley.
Larger Rallye intercooler.
Jetex exhaust modified to fit perfectly.
CAT bypass pipe.
Chipped ECU to match charger.
Lowered sports suspension. (The Jamex will be removed for a better set up.)
New fluted brake discs front and rear.
Green stuff pads.
New genuine VAG front bumper.
New genuine VAG rear bumper.
New genuine VAG front and rear wheel arches.
New genuine VAG sill covers.
Windows out 'naked' respray.
BBS alloys refurbished with new tyres.

See my projects page (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=69567.0) for the rebuild story with pictures. I have not set a price yet. I will not be giving it away, but I will not be asking crazy money for it like some cars I have seen that are not as nice as this one.
The car is off the road at the moment so that I can finish it off and get it registered. Watch the projects page for updates as they happen.

I could well be interested in that darnpb, it should fit in niceley with my timing of getting rid of the scoobie aswell.
