Edition 30 SuperChip - Milltek Resonated?
« on: 13 October 2009, 11:04 »
I've got a GTi Edition 30 with a Superchips remap which has totally transformed the car.

Has anybody done this and then added a Milltek Resonated Cat-Back exhaust? I'm looking for a bit more of a rumble without a booming exhaust.....

Would an intake increase the sound as well - performance is amazing now so that wouldn't be the main purpose, just a bit more of a nice noise to make the car feel a bit more special....

The milltek resonated cat bactkwill give a nice sound when you plant your foot down, not too loud or in your face. Then when driving normal there is very added little drone / noise.

Where are you from? we have some good offers comming up on the Milltek systems for the mk5s.

Nick

I have exactly the same set up, cat back non res ed30, with Superchips stage 1.

What i would say is, at 3000rpm in top gear, if the exhaust is new, there will be a boomy noise from the exhaust, but over 1000 miles or so, it will quieten down, but agree makes a great sound.
If you go downpipe and sportscat, then id recommend going to Resonated.

I've got a cat back non res Milltek on my mk5 GTI & i'm glad i did it's no louder than standard.I think the ''resonated'' would be too quiet.

Its only more boommy when you add Downpipe and sportscat, then its alot louder then stock exhaust.Standard GTi maywell be slightly quieter then the Ed30 due to smaller Turbo and Exhaust Diameter.

But each persons tolerence to sound in Cabin is different

I have a milltek non resonated cat back system in my shed that i just took off my edition 30 before i traded it in its only done around 1000 miles and based in scotland if any good to you email me at scottwilliams341@msn.com if interested.  By the way non resonated sounds great not loud at all but has a nice tone when going quick and really complements the superchips remap.
