4x100 to 5x100 conversion
« on: 12 October 2009, 17:52 »
I've just bought some 5x112 Mercedes wheels, stupidly thinking I'd have no problem getting 4x100 to 5x112 adapters...
Oops, guess I was quite wrong!!  Cars a 1.8 convertible...

So looking at a few different options, the easiest I think is to convert 4x100 to 5x100 hubs and then buy adapters.
So what do I need for the conversion?

GTi hubs and brakes, will the callipers be the same or will I need those too?
I've currently got drums on the back so will I need to do a full axle change?

Anything else?

lol numpty

Basically you'll need the 5 stud hubs, brake discs, and calipers etc.. and for the rear it probably would be easier to change the whole axle. You'll also need new handbrake cables. I think if you can find a 3.5 cabriolet in a scrappy then everything will be a straight swap :)

Although I think there's a company out there that do two piece adapters so you might be lucky if you can find out who it is that makes them!

I prefer the term beginner lol

Theres a mk3.5 round the corner being broken so will have to go have a chat with the bloke.

Is another option to re-drill the current hubs to 5x100.
Can that be done to the drums on the rear?

Mk3.5 is still 4 stud, it is whatever way you go a ballache, why not get custom adaptors made.
