Sorry if its been asked before, Gti 8v problems
« on: 10 October 2009, 12:36 »
Guys i just spent two hours searching to no luck , Got a few little problems with it.
  • One the wipers don't have a quick wipe?
You can push the stalk down and it goes intermitant but there is only one click and no clicks up? Any idea's?
  • Two how do i turn the rear wiper off.
  • Also the hand brake light stays on?
  • And was wondering how to set up my coilovers so i can go as low as possiable with standard wheels (don't know if i will need to remove the arches)

Thanks for any help guys

P.s were is the best place to look for a vento front end ( tried ebay and local Scappy)

1) for quick wipe just push up to the point just before it clicks up, if you know what I mean.

2) to turn it off you press it in again, the same as to get it going.

3) handbrake light is also connected to brake fluid level, either your brake fluid is very low (replace ASAP) or the handbrake switch is sticking, which means removing it and cleaning it.

4) to go as low as possible just wind the coilovers down, you could roll the arches, or get some arch extensions, or get lower profile rubber.

you need a special tool to roll the arches.

Or use a heat gun to heat up the paint (prevents it cracking so I'm told) and use a f*cking great hammer to bash the f*ck out of them!

It's what I did lol!

Although with standard rims I wouldn't expect much scrubbage. I've got 7x16's with 195/45 tyres, 15mm adapters front and 20mm rear. My front coilovers are wound down ALL the way off the threads and the fronts never rub! Rear is set a bit higher as the wheels stick out further which causes scrubbage :(

Just realised you have a GTI so you've got those ghey plastic arch trims which also require a bit of trimming if you roll your arches, but it is possible. I was 100mm down on 17's when I had my GTI rep. If you remove them completely then it gives you a couple of mm extra clearance

No Mk2 arches don't fit lol

Good luck
