Question if you have ACC

1) can you tell the difference between the settings?
2) if you bought another car with this option, would you spec this again?

1.Yes, you can.
I drive most of the time on normal setting but in comfy mode the road becomes smoother and you don't feel the bumps.
The sports mode is suitable if you want to take the car to its limits (heavy acceleration, breaking, etc). If tried in comf mode you can get sick as it's really weird and soft.
2.£700... Well, I would but I like toys and gadgets!

1) the diffs are slight, but you can just about tell.  comf mode is good for all the speed bumps and poor roads i deal with in London.  in sports mode the steering firms up noticably

Ask yourself these questions:

1, Is ACC standard on the R? (It is std on the Scirocco so could be std on the R but no one knows the uk spec for the R yet.) 

2, What are the roads like in your area? Are they like a war zone and have loads of speed bumps?

3, Do you take a lot of passengers, who would mind about comfort?

4, Do you do a lot of motorway miles?

5, Do you do trackdays?

6, Do you hate blank buttons on the console?

7, Can you afford it?

8, Do you like gadgets to impress your mates?

I have found the difference very noticeable, especially between sport and comfort.

Passengers can tell straight away as well as the car has a much smoother ride in comfort mode.

There is a difference, but not as great as I think they could have made it.

I leave mine on Comfort 99% of the time.

Buy it again? Yes, if the non-ACC suspension is as hard as Sport (which I believe it is); no, if the non-ACC were as soft as Comfort.

I'm in 2 minds too!
The Scirocco in the UK came with ACC as standard - but the German one didn't.
Currently on the German website, the Golf R doesn't have it as standard... but theres no saying we in the UK won't get it as standard.

I'd be delighted if it was a standard item in the UK model - as it would save me a decision.  Yes, I love gadgets and hate blank panels... but could I justify £750ish on this?  I'd probably play with it for the first few weeks, and then forget about it.  I think I'd rather throw this £750 ontop of the price of the standard leather seats to get the Recaro's!
If I want a gadget for impressing people I can pay £145 and get the reverse cam!

1. Yes the difference between sport and comfort is quite noticeable, the ride is stiffer it's almost as if you have pumped your tyres up to the max, and then let the air out again for the smoother comfort ride.
2. Yes definitely! because I like gadgets.
