I have got a mk6 GTD and have had it remapped by my local revo dealer it is now far quicker than the mk6 gti even standard from a roling start the gtd was just as quick as the gti until you get to 100+. I work for VW and think that as an all rounder its hard to beat this car especially now its quicker than the mk6 gti probably better residuals and 40+ mpg.
I was swaying toward the GTD before I plumped for the GTI. I don't actually have a preference for either but got a good deal on a pre-reg GTI so went that way. Mine's had similar engine treatment to yours too......
