Sidelight question...
« on: 07 October 2009, 17:10 »
I did try searching but couldn't find anything so apologies in advance if this has been answered already.

I had a GTi MK3 behind me today and it's sidelights were only illuminated in the inner bulb (nearest the grill).  My question is really, how easy is this to do - is it just a case of removing the brown wire from the main headlight, and is there a way of swapping the bulbs over so the headlight works there or will the lack of filtering just blind and annoy oncoming people.

My main question is just the sidelights though - is it really that straight forward?

No i'm leaving that where it is - I had a MK3 Golf behind me that just had it's sidelights in the inner piece of the headlight (Like it is with the ignition off) and it looked awsome... Just wondered how easy it was to do and then revert back to if need be.

Isnt that how it is standard?

Twin headlights, nearest the grill is the sidelight and full beam, and on the outside is the dipped beam?

Thats what I thought but I have a glow from the main headlight on mine too - and the one behind me just had the individual one on with no glowing from the main headlight...

Maybe i'm wrong and mine is normal - I'm probably going mad...

I understand what you're saying.. the inner lamp was lit up like it would be with the ignition turned off but lights switched on?

Think this has something to do with the fusebox.. or so I've read on Vortex.

That's dayglo.

Normal, the mainbeams glow dimly with sidelights.
