It's been done before by another chap very succesfully

I can see what you're saying but if the chap organising it is stupid enough to run off with your money I think there's enough of you to track him down

100 folk going after him though doesn't guarantee your money back as the other thread you posted about proves :(

Even Ross Tech was unsure with the first group buy.......... "Don't take this the wrong way, but we don't know you very well. Right now, all we have on you is a Hotmail address.   Thus if you make an offer in public, collect a bunch of money from people, and decided to abscond with it, we (Ross-Tech) would end up looking pretty bad.  Now I have no reason to believe you would do this, but I really don't want to take the chance of us or our prospective customers getting taken for that kind of money........"

I'm sure it would fine but its the kind of thing you read about in the papers every day and think to yourself, "how stupid can some folk be, sending money to a complete stranger"

Agreed, I see no reason why we can't buy direct from RossTech and say we are from such and such a forum and leave our Forum names. ? That way everyone wins.

Ross Tech will only be interested if you can muster 50 or more people and will do a one off deal.  They won't deal with people individually as it costs them money to ship and most likely you'll get stung for customs

You're better off joining that GB on Briskoda and let someone else have all the hassle of organising and collecting payments

Confirmed a part number cock-up

Correct lights will be here tomorrow morning

That's good news. So hopefully mine (LHD) should work 100% with the code you provided

Well, you were right. I was intending to do a full how-to on installing these lights, but it's so simple I don't think there's much point. I removed all the stock lights and fitted the adapters and LED blocks in under 20 minutes. There are 2 x 3 screws to undo and retighten, plug in the adapters and bingo.

The 'hard' part was taking the car to the dealers to have the OBC reprogrammed to avoid the error messages, but even that was done in under 5 minutes.

Very happy with the result, just a shame they're so expensive. I got mine on eBay from Germany for about £350, incl. shipping, but I'm hoping to offset some of this by selling the 'old' GTI lights.

Thanks for your help, especially with the coding. It was correct, but they needed 2 guys at the dealers to work out exactly what to do. One of them told me they tried to do the same on an Audi A5, but the code the customer had found on the web was wrong... They used a pretty amazing piece of kit which connected to the car via a Wifi connection. I saw all sorts of weird and wonderful settings on the screen; would have loved to have spent the afternoon tweaking
