[stir]for what its worth the mk5 and 6 have different doors. no more removable door skins as on the mk5 [/stir]

That's true but you can bolt a MK6 door on a MK5 and vice versa and it will shut and lock and all the electrics will hook up and work.

nick

Very true. Would look a bit stupid as they are slightly different shapes... but you could.

I ony mentioned this as it highlights one of the cost cutting measures by VW

Well worthy of mention mate.

nick

Diff doors ? Clinches it then, so its a new car now ?

They're only different in that skin is changed as I have told you for what feels like a million times it's a reskinned car. The door is the same structure with the same glass, the same electrics and will fit perfectly in the opening of both cars, it just has a different profiled skin to match the facelift of the MK6.

nick

Nick, I was joking.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Hmm, taking an objective view I'd say that the MKVI GTI is a stop gap that is billed as an all new car, but takes the best bits of the MKV and adds some new revised parts like the engine, E-diff, ACC and styling. I agree that it was brought about due to the expense that each MKV cost and that the resulting cost save was successful for the most part. To call it a completely new car would be wrong, but then again to call it a revised MKV is too, so what do you call it?........

A bastardised Frankenstein's monster of a MKV purebred maybe?

As long as Kev is about, No.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Is it just me, or are there 3 different topics going on in this forum all speaking the same sh1te about whether a MK6 is actually an upgraded MK5 or not?!

This one, "New Golf Mk 7 rendering from Auto Express", and "Has anyone mistaken or called your MK6 a MK5???"....and they're all dominated by the same people giving the same opinion in all of them!
