May sell the GTi.......
« on: 07 October 2009, 09:58 »
I  bought the car 2 months ago so 09 reg for my other half but having a 12month old and another on the way it looks like the golf is to small, we have problems getting more that my daughters buggy and a few shopping bags in. I am thinking as the car is used 90% in town to get a Q5 3.0TDi or maybe an A4 Allroad. Does anyone know what I should expect to get for the Gti? I know we are going to get kicked in the nu!s but it looks like it will hav to happen now or just after Xmas. The spec is Carbon Grey, leather, DSG, Monza Shadows, Tyre warning, Front and rear parking sensors, rear camera, park assist, RNS510 and bluetooth. The car is absoloutely immaculate (no swirls or chips) except for one of the wheels which has a very slight kerbing 1inch long on the edge and has just done 3000 miles.
MK6 Gti Carbon Grey, DSG, 19in BBS, Bluetooth, RNS510, Luxury Pack, Leather, Cruise control, Tyre indicator, Park assist, Front and rear sensors, Reverse Camera.

You bought a car without testing this first ? I have a tip, test the next one you buy.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

A4 Allroad

What's wrong with a normal estate car? S4 Avant even?
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I only had one child at the point when we ordered it, it will become an issue in March.

We have 7 children in our house and I know what you mean about the child buggy: ours will only just fit in diagonally. The Golf is not really any good if you have 2 young children with the mountain of stuff they need. We are lucky in also having a Renault Espace and a Ford Transit to carry around the kids and their belongings respectively, but if I had to choose just one car, I would probably go with the Q5, or another similarly high vehicle. It's so much easier getting the kids in and out when they're a few inches higher up.

My missus is 26 with no no claims 6 points and a recent accident which rules out anything like an S4. I did think about a used RS4 but the insurance is ridiculous.

How about this. Instead of losing money on selling your car for less than you paid and then spending more money on a bigger car, why not buy a smaller buggy?

If you have all the money and it's no problem and you fancy a newer and bigger car then fine but I'm always confused why people feel the need to spend £1,000's on a bigger car when you can spend a hell of lot less buying a smaller buggy. It's not like your kids are going to ripped by other toddlers cause their buggy is more compact.

I know plenty of people with 2 plus kids who tool about in cars much smaller than a MKV golf and have no issues with taking all the kid stuff with them.
