1.8 Auto, loss of acceleration, won't wheel spin?
« on: 06 October 2009, 16:52 »
OK, not that I'm a chav and pull bare hard wheelspins and that, but yesterday on tarmac, I was annoyed (not good I know) and floored the car from standstill, but it just pulled away with no loss of traction at all, surely this isn't right? I'm sure it accelerated faster when I first got it.

Serviced recently.

Any ideas?

Actually, I'm wondering if it's stuck in 2nd. I'll have to see....
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Automatic???

If it is could be a torque convertor issue but autos are not that quick away from the line.

In the wet too.

I hope it's not the torque convertor. :(

It used to do spin in the wet fairly easy, now with an almighty flooring it doesn't. Maybe the clutches are giving up.

I'll have a look a bit later and hold it in first to see if it helps.

My 8v wheel spins in the wet fairly easy, when i dont expect it since i fitted toyo proxes.

Before then with the Eagle F1s i never wheel spun.

I will also make clear, i dont try to wheel spin my car. lol

Been out, no go.

The revs go up as the torque convertor spins up and it just goes forward.

Moderately quickly, but nothing special, I'm sure it was better.

If you hold the brakes and rev it slightly to spin the clutches/torque convertor up then let go of the brakes and floor it it does just sh!te too.

New auto box soon? :(
