Immobaliser?
« on: 05 October 2009, 15:56 »
I got a P reg 8v on Saturday, and my insurance requires that it has an immobaliser.. I can't see a led on the dash anywhere, and there is only the button on the key fob to use the little led light on the key.. Does my car have one? I thought they were standard after 1993?! How will I then provide proof to my insurers that I have one, or will I need to get an aftermarket one?

Should have a factory fitted unit, not sure if it is insurance approved.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I will go and get an aftermarket one anyway, and get a Cat 1 alarm while I'm at it!
Any recommendations?!

The factory fitted one is enough to insure a mk3 Golf GTi !! Why spend money you don't need to !!
