well the shell is still in the same state as page 1! hahaha but were moving the front subframe and shell over oh and engine mounts! can't forget engine mounts

well the engine cost £999 it was a 40k 2000 AGU, the 2000 AGU has the same internals as the 2000 BAM engine, so with a good service and a new head gasket you could stick a K04 on, but i wouldn't advise it just incase! I opted for the K03S because its one up from standard and the engine had done 40k so should be fairly worn in.

any other questions i'll answer (as far as my ability anyways haha)

but in my estimations to get this car on the road its gonna cost another 4-5k  which is crap but at the end of it the car should pay for itself in happiness hahaha

i take it you're going for a full respray for that kind of money?

I don't think a semi will give the same results

right chaps and chapettes,

i've added up everything i'll need to buy to get this car on the road and i literally mean everything. from nuts and bolts to carbon firbe bucket seats and the verdict is................ it's too expensive in the real world haha sooooooooooooo new plan!
i'm going to buy a running MK2 GTI and drop the engine out and swap all my bits straight over  whilst you all maybe thinking i'm cheating its the only logical way to do it! unless i win the lottery!!! plus it will get done this year. all i'll need after buying the car is a custom exhaust and my ECU

opinions welcome.

cheers

Michael

well funny story really, i've been investigating and technically i don't need a valver purely because the only reason i was getting one was for the breaks but i thought to myself your uprating them anyway! so why pay more and ruin a classic than just buy an 8v  so i'm looking for a 8v now hahaha (i'll make my mind up eventually!) ummmmm well seeings it has to be in half decent condition i'm thinking around £1000. think thats a decent amount because i'm not worried about the engine or how many miles it's done because that will be coming straight out! oh and i may rebuild that engine also and stick it in a polo or something but who knows!

Cheers
