Exhaust popping
« on: 04 October 2009, 13:46 »
I read a GTI review (I think it was What Car) where they mentioned that downshifting on the DSG made the exhaust "pop and bang like Guy Fawkes night - it's utterly addictive".
I've never heard it, is it because I drive like your granny?
Anyone elso poppin' and bangin'....?

I went for the manual, I am a competent driver who doesn't need an auto box to sort out my gears for me, but that aside my exhaust burbles, gurgles pops and lets of fireworks all by itself so it isn't just the domain of the auto box.

Must be my driving style (lack of...) then. I took it up and down the motorway today, sports mode, auto mode, dropping 2 gears at once, kickdown etc = nothing.
I reckon they gave me a 2 stroke moped engine or something......

Drive along at about 30-40 mph then put your foot down all the way, that should do it.
