SO I have had my Mk 2 golf GTI 8v 1.9 Big bore white in the garage for two years now. I started it the other day and it came to life on the first turn of the key. This will be due to the engine having only 10,000 miles on it.
So I crashed my golf a number of years ago and was told by a garage that I had bent the chassis. My mate who works for the RAC took a look last week and said it wasn't the chassis but could be a number of other issue. I have change the driver side wishbone and wheel the week after I crashed it but it has never looked or driven right.
The problem is one wheel sits different to the other. I was woundering if anyone can tell me or help me undertsand what the problem is.
The reason I have kept the car is because the engine was brand new from
www.theengineshop.info 1.9 8v big bore with chip and uprated air filter. This cost me quite a bit of cash so was going to transplant the engine into another golf. Howevere I got married and my parents brought me a mk 4 GTI as a wedding present. Hence it has been in the garage.
I have three options
1. Keep it and try to fix it, but I'm no mechanic - Can't ask my mate the RAC man
2. Transplant it which will have to wait until next year due to lack of funds
3. Sell the whole car as spare or repair - I have a new hobbie Triathlons and need to upgrade the wheels on my TT bike. This is an expensive upgrade of £500
Personally I want to go with option 1 but if I get offers which are reasonable I'll sell it. Note this is not a for sale ad but an ad to help me diagnose the problem and if that fails I will have to go with option 3. Option 2 would not sit well with the wife!

Cheers
