Old MK4 Needs TLC!
« on: 02 October 2009, 09:50 »
Well, i havent posted any pics of me Vdub yet, but my T reg is in deperate needs of some love lol.
If you could see it, you would notice its smothered in swirl marks and the paint isnt as good as it could be.
It doesnt look like its ever been polished.
I'm looking to bring it back to a decent shine and tidy it up.
I work for halfords so im gonna get discount on a few wax/polish stuff, but, whats the best i could use?
I'm thinking autoglym, but theres alot to choose from?
What could you guys suggest?  Dont wanna go mad on spending as student loan wont cover it

from halfords - megs is your best bet

clay it before you do anything else... it will provide the biggest ROI

you won't beat the swirls unless you get it machine polished

The buffers/polishers in Halfords are a waste of time - save your £20

Clay bar / detailer / lube kit - £15 ?

then you'd best with some polish, then seal with a good wax (not polish and wax are NOT the same )

In Meguiars you could go for the three stage system, the names are a bit loose here but paint cleaner, polish then wax.

Or alternatively in Megs   SCratchX (hard work for a whole car) , then NXT Wax.

Get plenty of applicator pads, microfibre cloths and towels.

if you're gonna polish then you could try AG super resin polish... that is ok... you could also try the AG HD Wax... I am hearing good things about that too

i don't know of a sealant available from halfords

Dunno why i decided to do this today its soo cold!

do what?  I was running about for most of the day in shorts and t-shirt AND had the top down in car!
