The last BMW i bought i told them to just remove the cosmoline protective wax that its transported with, and not apply ppolish or wax. I was going to give it the full Zymol hit the day i collected it.  The valletting guy was cursing as it was an absolute bu66er to remove without the normal petrochemical products they'd use.

At the same time i spotted their chamois leather draped over the top of the brick wall, and being jet washed - oh my God 

My car was spotless in fairness - must have been lucky

At the time the valletting company were being paid £25 to prep a new car including removing all plastic and cardboard packaging !  The guys themselves must have been on less than a fiver an hour !

My mate who works at the local Vauxhall dealership said they had some contract valleters in when they were getting behind.

These boys were doing 6 used cars a day, supposedly to a standard that they could be put on the front for sale. Needless to say, they were not asked to come back after the first day.

Decided today to cancel my Supaguard, emailed my dealer to get it taken off the order. Hopefully won't be a problem

Have decided as well not to take it. Going to polish and wax the car myself.

I had a similar incident when I collected my ED30 last year, it was in the showroom & I found some light scratches in the roof, about 2 or 3, looked like grit or something had been dragged across it........

I did exactly the same thing, took it home, sorted the scratches myself & Zymol'd it. But is really isn't what you expect from a main dealer, but every car since I have really scrutinised.

If it was me spending £25k+ on a brand new GTI I would ask the dealer not to wash/clean it at all as part of the PDI so that the 'first wash' was done by me.

Has anyone ever done this?
