Lifeshine on new GTI
« on: 02 October 2009, 09:49 »
I have had Lifeshine put on my new GTI from the dealership - I am really pleased with it!  Although since having it - I have heard a lot of adverse comments regarding this.

Has anyone else had this put on and If so what are your thoughts??

I also have the pack containing all of the cleaning kits and polish..... there seems to be a lot in there and I'm wondering which is the best stuff to use in the pack....

I will probably still use my poorboys shampoo and not sure whether to use the "moosewax" caranuba wax I already have or the "Moosewax" handglaze???

Will this "moosewax" stuff strip off the lifeshine because I understand (having spoken to Autoglym) that their prodfucts are safe to use with the lifeshine and will not strip it!

Its not that the life shine is a bad kit... it just for that money there are much better products out there. Its a bit of a gimmick, but if your happy with it then.... well your happy with it

Lots more good info on the detailing board :nerd:

There was also a good thread on hear about keeping your gti clean

Lifeshine is for lazies who aren't bothered about regular upkeep - given your other potions i'm surprised you bothered with Lifeshine at all - the products are £20 for the lot on ebay, the dealers charge a fortune for a few hours applying it.

I'm sure the carnauba will bond onto the Lifeshine, but it sort of defeats the object  :undecided:

i've had the supaguard put on my mk 5 and now mk 6 gti.  i swore by it on the mk 5 - looked the nuts.  however....on my mk 6 (and i'm fuming believe me) its been pointed out over the last week and indeed today by the professional who cleans my car that its f7cked.  looking at it in the sun i can see it clearly.  swirls all over the car.  so word of warning to those of you who are getting it (and get it for free, do not pay £400!) - check its done properly!  it looks awesome when done properly but proper sh1te when not!  my dealer has just received a call to sort it asap....

believe me, they are going to reapply it, i will make sure of it.  i'm absolutely livid about it, i'd read stories on here about how sh1t it can look on here, but now i've actually looked for myself in the sun i'm raging about how sh1t it is.  like i say, on my mk 5 gti it had been applied properly and was awesome, the shine was like a mirror.  i really should have checked this myself but everywhere i have been parking has been out of the sun so not noticed it.  i'll let you know how i get on, he is calling me first thing monday when the dude that applies it is in.  fortunately i have monday off work so i'm gonna push to get it sorted then.

Sounds like the usual, apply with rotary polisher/buffer - dirt in the mop or too high speed = swirl heaven

Sorry to hear it mate- i rejected a black car for swirls, and that was just Autoglym polish for its PDI !
