cleansing wipes came in very useful - thanks you

Nick has just left after an afternoons tinkering...

cleaned out TB and airbox - still not working after this without the throttle applied
removed air mass sensor - then ran very rough, gave it some beans and it coughed and spluttered and untwisted its knickers when the sensor was plugged back in... happy days

potential problems -
1. found whacking great big hole in underside of oil breather pipe - this will be replaced but Nick duct taped it as a precaution
2. automatic throttle adjuster makes a funny whiny noise when the engine is switched off... Nick will be along to give a more technical description of this

is yours dependent on whether it is hot or cold?

my problem was regardless of whether the engine was hot or cold

its regardless. even when the cars warmed up, after i turn ignition off and go to fire it again, it needs the throttle applied for the first few seconds. did u manage to sort it then?
