I think your tester is interpreting the MOT test requirements wrong....

YES we know having front fogs are NOT a requirement to pass an MOT as some cars aren't fitted with fronts only 1 rear which is a requirment of the MOT..

BUT

If you have a pair of front fogs and/or a switch that is supposed to operate 2 front fog lights then they have to work.

Even removing the bulbs alot of testers would probably pass the car but if the tester was to apply the law correctly the car should fail as theres a light switch which isn't doing what it is supposed to.

An MOT tester would not even check your front fogs as they are not "obligatory", switch or no switch. As with lights, only "obligatory switches are tested. Otherwise my car would fail on the fag lighter.

when will people learn that if a light is fitted, it HAS to work. The switch has nothing to do with it, as my mk2 had rear fogs but not front, yet the switch could still be turned to the fronts position!

To turn on the rear fog you have to pull the switch right out past the fronts as the rear will only come on when the fronts are on. Thats how he knows the fronts are not working. And the fag lighter doesn't power any exterior lights it lights a fag !!

I know that front fogs are NOT needed for the MOT, but if they ARE fitted, then they must work!
