Was in at my dealer today to sign the finance as my Golf was arriving either tonight or tomorrow night

Anyway got talking to him about delivery dates etc and he said they had lost a few customers who actually cancelled orders or not bought golfs due to the delivery time. VW were now looking to move some of its production of the golf to the factory in America that produces the Fox as the Americans are their number one buyer at present. This would free up the Germany plant to catch up with the European orders.
He also said he ordered a GTi for a customer yesterday and was told by VW to advise that he would be looking at a February delivery date.
Traditionally VW shut all their plants after week 48 for Christmas so if your car has a build week of week 49 (first week in December) It actually isn't built until they resume in January!! But this year they are toying with staying open like they did in the summer to try and meet demand.
He also said because of the long delivery times, VW were also thinking of taking the VAT hit if the car was ordered before the VAT was increased in January but this hasn't been confirmed yet.
Not sure how much of this is true!!
