for anyone who has change the brake pedal - the spring!!!!!!!

oh my god! what a day!

well i got the pedal on, didnt take to long! but the spring!!!!!

i spent over 3hours today to get it in with no luck! just sore hands and back and neck!

anyone got any tips? there just doesnt seem like theres enough space to get the end in square ridge in the bulk head! is that definately where it goes?

i cant get it in there because the pedal is just in the way!

did you go from underneath or over the top?

also can that square ridge which its meant to slot into brake as the im worried because of the amount of times im trying.

i just re compressed the sping, ill get a pic later so you can see if its compressed enough!

hope some one can help! im tempted to call my breakdown so they can take me to a garage to do the last bit!

and i have actually thought i got it in 3 times when i heard the click, but everytime its just misses the slot!!

looks like your on your own with this one, iv never had to work on my mk4 pedals so cant help dude.
what i can do is bump it up

I changed my master cylinder 2 weeks ago. I'd ead a guide which said to use cable ties to hold the spring closed whilst fitting it but i found this harder than doing it by hand.
In the end i dropped the spring in from the top, lined it up with the slot in the bulk head using my left hand to 'pin' it there, then i pushed the pedal right in to the floor ajusting the angle of the spring upwards for it to eventually 'clunk' into position(with a bit of force).
Can fully feel for your bad bad and cut up hands though. felt like one of those traps from the saw movies
