ABF Inlet Size/injectotion limits

Alrite just wondering what the size is of the inlet manifold on a ABF i tryred to mesuare it and got around 50mm , im not sure where or what engine they are from , i have seen some stating that there is a 40mm and 50mm is the ABF standard 50mm?


Also just after some info on weather people would go down the road of getting uprated inectors/fuelrail/ mapable Electronic System  with plenty of cold air feed into either the standard air box or a induction type but made sure its away from any hot air ,

 or the ITB route ? i no that the benefits from the TB's would be better but would it be maybe be not really that far from the TB's end result ,

ABF inlet manifold is 50mm some of the earlier MK2 KR engines had a 40mm inlet manifold.

No point of uprated injectors / fuel rail without some other serious mods.

Search air box mods and induction kits for lots of info.

You will struggle to get the standard ecu to run properly with ITB's so you would need to go for an aftermarket mappable system like Megasquirt or similar.

All depends on how big your wallet is.

There would be a fully rebuilt engine with ported polished head, de-cat exhuast , most probabably some schrick 276 cams, fully balanced bottem end with lightened flywheel,


With that above would the keeping the injecten sysmte not be worth it and go TB's?

I presume you have a 16v ?

Polished and ported head ok, you will want to match port your inlet and exhaust manifold as well, de-cat probably not worth it and it won't pass emmissions test (got one on mine though), schrick 276 cams will be too much and will mess up your emmissions at tickover and also the running at low revs - too much overlap on them. ABF's on standard management don't like too much overlap but you can go for higher lift. 260's will work with the standard ecu. 268 inlet and standard exhaust cam with a remap has been made to work. Lightened and balanced flywheel is meant to be a good improvement.

Your next step would then be ITB's and aftermarket management. With the aftermarket management you will probably be able to get both 268 inlet and exhaust cam working.
