Its happening all over again, this happened in the mk5 section, and nearly everyone bailed out from their because of all the mickey taking. Tis a shame as Post counts have now Plummeted in that section from this same thing. Hope it doesnt go the same way in here aswell.
Wont do the forums reputation any good.

People shouldnt need to explain why they dont go to other sections in a car forum. They visit because they enjoy the car they have purchased, Its not a crime to not visit over sections if you dont have an Interest in those area's
Or if it goes into a shows meets section for example, less people with mk6's are likely to read it, hense why people try and keep it in the forum the car belongs in.

That's what moderation is for Kevin, we don't live in caves anymore

Moderation, that I can defo agree with. I had to endure weeks upon weeks of people trying to come the smart arse with me saying you dont have a gti, you dont even have one on order, come on kev wheres your car etc etc this went on every day for a long time, a lot of people were serious and very strong on their attempted piss takes over my comments on buying the golf. Right from the start I said I would be buying at the end of July, and I did it. Still I got pricks trying to come the cnut with me.

Then you get some posters who are like, 'oh this place is not so nice' or 'i dont like the atmosphere here' or 'im not sure how long i'll hang around' - I mean come off it, If I could put up with that sh!t that I took then I fail to see where anyone has any plausable reason not to want to be in this section or forum. It baffles me really.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Hi,

Does anyone on here organize any Golf GTI meets around the country? Or know of any coming up in the near future?

Cheers

Ady

and to be fair, there is no mention of MK6 meet in the OP

ONE MASSIVE problem the forum did suffer is that there is alledgelly a " clique " when it comes to meets etc, summat proved by the poor attendance at the Forum BBQ.

so ANY meet is encouraged to be posted in the " events " sections to encourage all members to attend. even those without a gti kev

oh and did you all know there was a forum charity too http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=111467

Sensible post for 2009 over and done with - carry on

I've said this many a time... Just because we all have/had golfs, doesn't mean we're all going to get along. I first thought people who made friends on the internet were proper nerds, with no social life. Then a few shows later I found there were some genuine, like minded people, who were it not for this forum I'd have never met. In some cases its gone beyond cars, in fact a few of us went to another guys wedding recently!
So if you guys are happy to stay in your specific section of the forum I dont have a problem with that, just as long as you realise there is more than just this section! In response to the question about VW meets, then there is a section for that, which we try to have threads for as many meets as we know about. If you want to start a meet yourself for mk6 owners, then do so, but post it in the meets section as there just may be others who'd like to come along as well.

On all forums there is normally some kind of banter, but trust me this is mild compared to some I've read! Tarring everyone outside the mk6 froum as childish idiots is ridiculous. Agreed alot of rubbish gets spouted in the 'off topic' section, which is the sole reason its there! Without it, the rubbbish would just invade the rest of the forum.
If you dont like 'modifiers' then there's not alot you can do about it, so I can see why you wouldn't want to look at certain areas of the forum! There are alot of people who want to do more to their car, me included! I cant see that I'll ever drive a standard car again, they weren't perfect from factory so whats wrong with finding ways to improve?

As for the dreaded Moderation, well too much and you get called power hungry nazis. Not enough and things get out of hand. Its a difficult thing to balance, with alot of new members in a section about a new car that no-one knows a great deal about yet, there is bound to be issues. What normally happens is someone who appears to be a sane and level person, gets asked if they'd like to moderate a section they seem to know and care about. In time this will happen to the mk6 forum.

I dont really know what else to say but stick around, if your happy staying in this section, so be it. If you want to go to a meet, there are loads if you look in the relevant section. Although you're coming out of show season so this will slow down a bit. If you want to show others your car, do so in the 'dub rides' section. If you want a full blown project page, there is a section for that in which JV or Toph will create a thread for you that no-one else can post in... etc etc. We're all here to have fun, learn somethings, share knowledge blah blah blah.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
